Initial protection (before first wear) is recommended.
Apply a water repellent/protector by following these steps:
First, use a soft suede brush (or a clean, soft toothbrush) to gently brush the shoes in one direction to remove any dust or debris. Next, evenly spray a high-quality suede protector over the shoes, holding the bottle 8–10 inches away and applying two light coats rather than one heavy coat. Finally, allow the shoes to dry completely before wearing (anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours, depending on the product), and be sure to apply the spray in a well-ventilated area.
